
The HUS datalake is a Microsoft Azure cloud-based analytical environment and database compliant with the General Data Protection Regulation. The HUS datalake is provided by the HUS Data Administration Department and supported by TietoEvry and other IT companies. Clinical data are integrated from multiple electronical health registries in a daily basis. Clinical data are then pseudonymized and distributed to subdatalakes according to their data and research permits.

Users in the hematological subdatalake operate on RStudio and Jupyter Notebook development environments integrated in a Linux operating system. Prof. Kimmo Porkka (clinical hematology) leads the Cleverhealth eCare-4-me Acute leukemia team composed of medical doctors, data scientists, study nurses, database engineers and biologists. We aim to build clinically-meaningful softwares saving time of physicians, providing additional data to support clinical decision-making and making research more efficient.
We have developed multiple pioneering solutions to reach these goals. The entire data is regularly updated, data sources mapped into clinical entities and data variables text-mined to structure data not otherwise available.
There are 94767 patients with a hematological diagnosis and 20703 patients with a hematological cancer (ICD-10 C81-C99). The last full data update was on 2021-12-20.Harmonized data sources
